Are you a club coach or school teacher looking to develop your knowledge and practical delivery of the 4x100m relay?
We are delighted to host a specialist 2-hour workshop with Karen Kirk, an Athletics Northern Ireland Level 3 Sprints Coach and a key member of the Athletics Ireland Relay Programme. Karen has played an integral role in the development of Ireland’s sprint relay athletes, contributing to a structured national approach that has supported relay teams competing successfully at major international championships. Her work combines technical precision, athlete development, and performance-focused relay strategy.
This workshop is designed specifically for coaches and teachers who want to:
- Understand the technical and tactical demands of the 4x100m relay
- Develop effective changeover techniques and acceleration patterns
- Learn proven drills used within high-performance relay environments
- Improve athlete positioning, outgoing timing, and baton efficiency
- Apply session design principles directly within school and club settings
The session will include:
- Clear classroom-based theory on relay mechanics and strategy
- Extensive practical track-based delivery
- Demonstrations, drills, and coached practice
- Opportunities to ask questions and problem-solve real coaching scenarios
By the end of the workshop, you will leave with practical tools and structured progressions that you can immediately implement in your own coaching environment.
