Introdution to Track and Field for Senior/ Master Athletes

  • Dates: Wednesday 2nd April - Wednesday 7th may
  • Times: 6:30pm - 8pm
  • Location: Mary Peters Track, BT9 5PR
  • Cost: £60 (£10 per week)

Looking to try the track and field events in Athletics?

Maybe you competed as a junior and are looking to come back into the sport. 

Come along to this 6 week block for adults to learn the fundamentals of Speed, Endurance, Throws and Jumps!

Each Session will last 90 minutes and will cover two disciplines per week.

This is for adults aged 18+ only. 

Week 1: Sprint Mechanics & Long Jump

  • Sprints: Sprint drills, acceleration mechanics, starts (blocks and standing).
  • Long Jump: Take-off technique, approach run, landing mechanics.

Week 2: Endurance & Shot Put

  • Endurance: Pacing strategies, interval training, aerobic endurance.
  • Shot Put: Grip, stance, power position, and release technique.

Week 3: Javelin & High Jump

  • Javelin: Grip, run-up mechanics, throwing technique, safety.
  • High Jump: Approach, take-off technique (Fosbury Flop), bar clearance.

Week 4: Sprint Development & Triple Jump

  • Sprints: Speed endurance, reaction time, top-end speed mechanics.
  • Triple Jump: Hop-step-jump sequence, approach control, landing.

Week 5: Endurance Development & Shot Put Progression

  • Endurance: Tempo runs, race strategies, anaerobic conditioning.
  • Shot Put: Full rotational or glide technique, power and release refinement.

Week 6: Javelin Development & High Jump Progression

  • Javelin: Full run-up, throwing power, competition-style practice.
  • High Jump: Bar clearance drills, rhythm in the approach, competition prep.

This will cost £60 for the six weeks and numbers will be limited!
