Athlete and Parent Information

Important - Site works including scaffolding

The biggest point of difference from previous Aztec meets is that there is now maintenance work being carried out on the Garenne Stand. This means limited access - therefore please read the following carefully regarding where you can get to and the best routes around the venue:

From the club room, athletes can access the track by going down the internal staircase, going out the double doors and turning LEFT through the tunnel, bringing them out next to the practice long jump pit. An alternative route to get to high jump, discus, and potentially 1500m is to go down the main outside steps of the Garenne Stand, head out of the gate and turn left to walk alongside the railings... entering the arena via the pedestrian gate situated opposite the high jump mat and the javelin runway. As usual, there will be no entry to the arena via the gate at the finish-line because of the timing equipment.

There is no acccess to the blue seats in the Garenne Stand. Parents and spectators are encouraged to use the grey seats over the finish line, as well as the grass bank at the southern end of the arena. The walkway at the top of the Garenne Stand IS completely open, allowing for spectators to stand and watch (the scaffolding does obviously restrict the view a little). As well as these locations, athletes are also able to sit on the grass on the infield in between their events, whilst always observing awareness to stay out of the throws area which will be cordoned off as usual.

Bib Collection & Canteen in the Club Room

Bib collection will now be self-service. Most athletes should have their bib number from previous fixtures... it is to be retained and used for each Aztec Series meet. Those who have yet to compete in the series should check their bib number on the Competitors tab above and collect it from the desk in the club room. Those who have a number already needn't sign in at all and simply need to report to their events.

The canteen will be open for drinks and snacks during the meet. Thanks to Katy for her generosity in overseeing this for us!

High Jump & Discus

The field events are scheduled to run one after the other. The start times might deviate a little, depending on duration of the competitions. High Jump in particular is difficult to predict. Note that U13 competitions are completely separate from U15+. Please turn up at the field event area on time and report in to an official. We hope to keep to time.

Other things to note for those taking part

Usual stuff! Those taking part in multiple events should seek to advise field event officials if they need to leave a field event to go to a track race. Athletes should arrive at the start area for races approx 10mins before the advertised start time. Earlier for field events if they expect to have practice throws/jumps. Never cross the finish line whilst a race is going on and always be ultra-aware of the track whenever looking to cross it. Never go into the discus landing area (cordoned).
