Sunday 12th November at 11am to 2pm
Athletics NI Academy coaches Amy Foster and Scott Paulin will deliver a practical workshop on the concepts, philosophies, and methods that Athletics NI use to develop the physical qualities of teenage endurance runners. This follows on from the popular workshop earlier in 2023 and will provide coaches with the knowledge and practical skills to help reduce injury risk and improve running performance in youth endurance runners.
This three-hour workshop will include theory and practical elements on:
- Why it is important to monitor growth and maturation in young developing athletes.
- Are young athletes at greater risk of injury across stages of maturation?
- Practitioners’ perceptions and how to better understand and manage training load.
- Training interventions to help mitigate the risk of running related injuries.
- A two-hour ‘in-depth’ practical session on plyometrics, isometrics, and lumbar pelvic control training.
This workshop is applicable for all coaches wishing to enhance their knowledge and delivery of physical preparation. Coaches may register one athlete to attend with them for the purposes of the practical session. Athletes must be named at the point of registration and be aged 14 + at the date of the workshop
