A series of graded mile races held on the legendary track on which Roger Bannister set the first sub-4-minute mile, running 3:59.4 in 1954. The event will involve paced, seeded races, with an Elite invitational race in which the field will be expected to run under 4:00 for men and 4:36 for women. Aside from the A-races, the Iffley Festival of Miles will be a great place for many to set PBs in the rarely contested mile distance, under the control of experienced pacers.
Race details
When: 3rd June 2023, approx. 3pm till 7:30pm.
Where: Sir Roger Bannister Track, Oxford, OX4 1EQ.
Cost: £9.95
The meeting will be run under an Level 2 UKA licence and have electronic timing and photofinish.
1500m split will be included!
Elite entry
Only 8 people at Iffley Road have ever dipped below the magical mark of 4 minutes for the mile.
Men who have run under 3:45 for 1500m and women under 4:25 in 2022-23 are eligible for free entry and should contact the race organisers.
Visually Impaired (VI) Mile
We are proud to incorporate the VI Mile into the 2023 program. We would like to welcome all levels of impairment. If guides are needed, they will not have to pay or go through the entry process. Should you require a guide, you can indicate this in the entry process and we can allocate you one on the day.
