Site works awareness

First of all, please be wary that the works are continuing at the track before the meet. Please ensure you are careful when moving around the arena as there will be some cleansing equipment in the vicinity. There may even be some work going on prior to 6:30pm.

Bib collection

Please report to the club room to collect your bib number -  This can be viewed on the Competitors list and on the Start Lists (see below) - this will be your number for the whole series and must be retained. Bib number is to be worn on the front of your vest EXCEPT 5,000m runners who should wear on the back for this meet please (we are testing stuff out ahead of Island Games).

There is no reporting deadline but we recommend that athletes warm up for at least 25mins before their first event, therefore they'll need to collect their bib before this.

Start-lists online

All athletes/parents should check the Start Lists here https://data.opentrack.run/en-gb/x/2023/GBR/aztec1/event/

By doing so, all athletes should know their start time, heat, lane number, etc.

Once the meet begins, this link will provide live results.

Track events

  • All athletes must report to the start area 10mins before the scheduled start
  • This has NOT been at all well adhered to by junior or senior athletes last year and is bad practice ahead of competing in UK competitions in the future. It is necessary to ensure smooth preparation for each race for the starts team and sticking stress-free to the timetable
  • Athletes can continue their warm-up routines in this area whilst keeping aware of any shout-outs from the starts team to sign-in or come to the start-line
  • Athletes may be required to wear lane/hip numbers - these are to be worn on the RIGHT outer leg

Field events

  • It is athlete/parent/coach responsibility to ensure practice jumps/throws take place BEFORE the allotted competition start time. There should be officials at the site well in advance of the start time to allow this
  • It is recommended to be at the throws/jumps site approx 15mins before the start time
  • If there is a clash with a track event - the officials will do their utmost to let athletes achieve as many attempts as possible but cannot pause the competition to allow practice attempts

5,000m

  • As noted earlier - all athletes must wear their bib on their back for this meet
  • Lane/hip numbers are required on both outer thighs and one will also be worn on outer chest/inner shoulder area of vest/crop-top

Additional notes for U13/ new athletes

  • Athletes should warm up with a short jog followed by a combination of drills and dynamic stretches that they've experienced in training. We recommend approx 15mins of these in a relaxed manner following their jog. Next, they should get into spikes (unless throwing) and do "strides" for approx 10mins with relaxed recoveries. They should then be good to go!
  • Any athletes without measured run-ups for Long Jump should report to the LJ area between 6pm and 6:10pm to ensure they can set down a run-up. Officials/coaches should be able to assist. This will not be possible at or after 6pm.
  • Similarly - in throws there will not be any coaching of the basics during the competition - the athletes should all be familiar with how to throw from training sessions. The officials' job is to ensure the competition runs smoothly and is enjoyable!
